AGPW delivers groundbreaking biopesticide field trial result against pink snow mold (Microdochium nivale)

Richland, Wash. - AGPW Group, an innovator in the fermentation, manufacturing, and application of microbial biopesticides and biostimulants, announced today that it successfully completed their first field trial of LiveGrow™ platform grown and applied fungus against pink snow mold on turf.

The project began in the Fall of 2016 and focused on testing AGPW's LiveGrow™ platform grown and applied fungus, Trichoderma sp., against pink snow mold on a tee of a golf course in north central Washington State using the course’s standard spray equipment. This course has snow on it for three to four months every year and has always suffered pink snow mold damage that caused significant turf losses every year, especially in the tees and greens. Fall application of the LiveGrow™ fungus dramatically reduced the incidence of pink snow mold this spring. "There was only a very small area of pink mycelia on the treated turf, but the untreated areas were covered in pink mycelia," said the course superintendent when the snow melted at the end of March. Later, after the grass started growing, the course superintendent stated that the grass in the treated area grew back faster, was denser, and gave a better playing surface sooner. These differences were still visible two months later in mid-June.

Due to the success of this trial, AGPW is expanding its LiveGrow™ efforts into several additional field trial projects on golf courses. One such project already underway is focused on testing an especially selected strain of the gram-negative bacteria Xanthamonas campestris as a selective herbicide for control of Poa annua. This type of bacteria has been well known for about 30 years as an excellent solution to Poa control, but no one was able to formulate it for commercial application since gram negative bacteria do not produce any resting forms. LiveGrow™ has easily overcome this barrier and early limited results have been extremely encouraging with eradication of Poa recorded.

AGPW obtains tremendous biopesticide results through LiveGrow™ platform.

Richland, Wash. - AGPW Group, an innovator of fermentation, manufacturing, and application of biological pesticides and stimulants, announced today that it completed its greenhouse study with tremendous results. 

The study began in the spring of 2016 and focused on testing three organisms, one Gram positive bacteria, one Gram negative bacteria, and one fungus tested against Pythium ultimum, a broad spectrum plant pathogen that is very economically important in both agriculture and T&O. These three test organisms were grown, formulated, and applied using the LiveGrow™ platform and compared to the best chemical fungicide mix currently available on the market.

Upon completion of the study in January of 2017, AGPW was extremely satisfied with the results. In all tests, microorganisms developed though the LiveGrow™ platform were not only highly effective against Pythium, but in many cases they performed better than the leading chemical treatment. The organisms used were not special strains designed for LiveGrow™, but were publicly available strains stated to be effective against a broad range of soil fungal pathogens. This further confirmed AGPW's theory, that any organism that is developed through LiveGrow™ platform is, by maintaining it active from production to application, fully prepared to quickly perform against intended pathogens.

In addition to efficacy, AGPW was also able to achieve several results that are of critical importance to the commercial sector. Formulations used in the tests consistently reached live cells or spore concentrations between 1E+9 – 1E+11 CFU/g, which is significantly greater than claimed by leading commercial biological products. This capability of LiveGrow™ will allow application of less product while still delivering highly effective results in the field. Throughout this study, microorganisms were also grown on different sizes and types of biodegradable man-made particles which will allow for different types of application from golf course greens to corn fields.

AGPW Group enters into a research agreement to field test gram negative bacteria formulated through LiveGrow™ platform.

Richland, Wash. - AGPW Group, an innovator of fermentation, manufacturing, and application of biological pesticides and stimulants, announced that it has entered into a research agreement with an agricultural cooperative to conduct field trials of a gram negative Pseudomonas fluorescens Pf-5 strain, developed through its patent-pending LiveGrow™ platform, against soil borne pathogens in peas and wheat. Trials commenced this September and are expected to complete late spring of 2017. During this collaboration, AGPW is expected to display the tremendous capabilities of its groundbreaking platform and deliver results equal to or better than chemical standard.

This collaboration came to fruition after AGPW was able to achieve excellent results in a greenhouse setting. When testing Pf-5, that was formulated through LiveGrow™ platform against Pythium, AGPW consistently delivered efficacy results that were equal to or better than chemically treated control.

"We always believed that our technology was going to deliver great results, but even we didn't think that results would be this good. When comparing to chemical control, Pf-5 formulated through our technology consistently showed 90% or better survival rate against Pythium, while chemical control ranged in 70% to 90% range. This is a groundbreaking development that will undoubtedly disrupt the crop protection industry. I believe the 20 year timeline for biologicals to become a real industry just got significantly shorter," said AGPW Group's president.
